What is ASTM a213 Pipe?
ASTM a213 grade modules cover both austenitic and ferritic stainless steel grades. The chrome moly pipe grades have excellent corrosion resistance properties across different systems. The pipes in this grade also perform well in high-temperature setup, allowing them to be used in producing boiler and heat exchanger systems. The high-strength modules possess enhanced mechanical properties and can be processed in a cold or hot rolling process.

ASTM A213 and ASME SA 213
ASTM and ASME standards are used in manufacturing tubes of the A213 grade. The tubes from both ranges have identical properties but can be differentiated from each other based on certain key features.

ASTM A213 Pipe Straightness Tolerance Vs Ovality Tolerance Standard

• ASTM A213 pipe straightness tolerance is the maximum or minimum tolerance permissible in the outer diameter before the pipe loses its circular shape.
• Ovality tolerance can be defined as the difference between the minimum and maximum dimensions of the outer diameter of a tube. Here the tube is either bent or loses its shape.

ASTM A213 Seamless Pipe Vs Sa 213 Heat-exchanger Tubes

• ASTM A213 seamless pipe is always shaped in a circular cross-sectional area. Sa 213 heat exchanger tubes can be shaped in the form of square, circular and rectangular cross-sections.
• Heat exchanger tubes have a higher load-bearing capacity than standard seamless pipe grades.
• A213 grade can be manufactured by hot and cold rolling process. The SA 213 grade can only be produced by hot rolling process.
• Seamless tube grades require special materials like heat billets to be precisely shaped. Heat exchanger tubes can be bent or coiled easily.
