Inconel 600 Plate vs Sheet
Plates and sheets are metal grades that are distinguished based on their respective thickness and functionality.
- An Inconel 600 plate is designed with a thickness of above 6mm and can extend up to 150mm. The versatile grade of plates adds stability and provides strength to different components across stress-induced setups.
- Inconel 600 sheets are designed in thickness of less than 6mm but above 0.5mm. Sheets in this grade are used to add an aesthetical appeal to different applications. They focus less on providing stability and more on weight-saving.

Characteristics of Inconel 600 Plate
- The chromium content gives these plates resistance to a range of corrosive media.
- Immune to stress corrosion cracking.
- High strength
- Tolerance to scaling in high temperatures
- Excellent resistance to organic acids.

What is AMS 5540 Cold Rolled Plate and DIN 17742 Hot Rolled Plate?
Inconel plates are produced in the cold or hot rolling process. Both these plate types can be distinguished from certain key features.
- DIN 17742 hot rolled plate is formed by processing the metal at high temperatures till the metal reaches its recrystallization state. This allows subsequent components to be formed efficiently. AMS 5540 cold rolled plate is processed at room temperatures soon after the hot rolling process.
- Hot rolled plates have slightly rounded edges. Cold rolled plates are formed with a sharp and precise finish.
- The strength and tolerance in cold formed plates are greater than that of hot rolled plates.
- The aesthetical appeal of AMS 5540 cold rolled plates is far superior to hot rolled plates.

What is Nickel Alloy 600 Coil vs Inconel Alloy 600 Shim Sheet?
- A nickel alloy 600 coils are a product grade that is wound after the rolling process. Designed in thickness between 1.2mm up to 20mm these modules can be efficiently transported for processing and later cut into different metal grades.
- Inconel alloy 600 shim sheet is used to fill spaces and gaps between metal and other components. Sheets in this grade provide rigidity and stability to different modules. Shims are generally available in thickness of above 0.020mm.
